Manpower

After using Manpower, the world’s largest temporary employment firm, I was extremely surprised with how many local job opportunities are available. Manpower provides users with the jobs description, candidate’s profile, and candidate skills, to ultimately help the user gain all of the appropriate knowledge when applying for a job. Manpower’s worldwide network spans across 80 countries and virtually makes it possibly to find a job in most parts of the country. For my first search, I typed in my address 91356, which covers most of the San Fernando Valley in the Los Angeles County. Two job titles appeared; both are permanent and located no more then 30 minutes from my house. One job is in the sales industry of business consulting and the other job is logistics distribution and supply chain for a company called Warehouse associate. The business-consulting job requires tech savvy individuals, while the other is scanning barcodes and location while investigating and resolving any order discrepancy. From the job description of the business consulting company, I see it more directly pertaining to my interests.

            When searching job opportunities in Madison and New York City, many more potential jobs are available. Not too many jobs in Madison caught my attention aside from the Engineering Change Specialist. The Engineering Change specialist is responsible for day-to-day review, execution, distribution, verification, and documentation of engineering changes. “The Engineering Change specialist serves as a key quality control point for engineering change data by auditing engineering data for conformance to product release standards.” It is a job based on a contract and doesn’t require many technological skills, similar to most of the other opportunities probably based off the demographic location. New York city had the most job opportunities for clear reasons and the job is located in Brooklyn.  This job is temporary unlike the others and has a couple main responsibilities that are quite interesting. One must be able to perform and coordinate the analysis and design of business systems. You are too act as a liaison between business user groups and the technical system group to achieve ultimate success. Finally, one is required to work closely with clients and with other system groups to capture business requirements and see them through implementation.

            After investigating the three locations, it is clear that Madison offered less technical skills of jobs because of its demographic location. Both other place, which are located in major cities where a competitive job market is necessary to finding the best employees. I also found it interesting how most of the jobs in Madison are permanent; while in other major cities they are temporary.
