Aris App- Samantha Lastig and Kyle Nemeroff

When we downloaded the application on to our iPhones, we both assumed that it was going to be some boring, educational game that, to be honest, would be a waste of our time. It wasn't until after we started playing around with the games that we actually realized how cool this could be. We'd both never seen locational games before, so we were really intrigued and excited to start. The only thing that hindered our experience was definitely the weather. Walking through campus in 9 degree weather with snow coming down on you, really doesn't compare to sitting by the TV in the warmth of your home playing Xbox with friends.
The library quest game was factual and definitely more interactive than just sitting in a classroom learning all these facts. We still found it to be somewhat pointless though. Walking from floor to floor of College Library got old after the first few minutes. We learned different facts about College Library and the history of it along with other nearby buildings. The best part about playing a game is the addictive feeling you get while playing it- it's almost like you can't stop. This feeling was definitely not felt while playing the library quest game.
Another interesting thing that we came across was the need for distractions. Usually, you use a game as a distraction from homework or just life in general, where we felt we needed a distraction FROM the game. We kept stopping to text our friends, look at our most recent Facebook notification, and even stopped to print out homework for another class in the middle of it all. We both agree that the game involves a really cool and unique concept, but probably won't do too well in the grand-scheme of gaming.
