Interview

Over thanksgiving break I was able to have a quick conversation with my uncle about the type of information technology he uses.  He is a farmer and he said the most important information technology he currently uses is the computer.  To be a farmer he needs to know a lot about the prices different produce is selling for.  A vital thing he needs to know is the weather, so he checks the weather with his computer a couple times a day.  He said that the computer dramatically improved the ways he farms because he used to rely on just the news and the newspaper to check the weather, when now he can check many different weather sources through the Internet.  My uncle was forced to learn how to use a computer by himself, since he is an entrepreneur.  Over the years he eventually mastered how a computer works, but he said it was a bit frustrating at the beginning.  The computer has definitely had a positive impact on his farming because now he is able to get more accurate and time specific information about different aspects that make up farming.
