Hybrid Classes

The hybrid nature of the class is similar in many ways to hybrid classes on other campuses. The use of an online blogging tool is something many of these type of classes use and is an interesting way to continue to learn about things not taught in class. The problem with that is that many of the online activities seemed forced. Although they were correlated to what we were learning about in lecture it did not add insight to the lesson. Some of them such as checking on our privacy levels online, finding information such as the assignment on Manpower inc were intuitive and made you think more about culture around us. But the assignments such as playing the game, or living without technology didn't seem to add anything to the class it was just something thrown in there because we need to have an assignment. I think the blog and wiki were tools that were a good idea but needed to be explained more. Yes it is a good for us to learn how use them but just throwing us into the pool without any direction is not a great way to do this. There were many problems that arose when using these pieces of technology and there was little to no help offered regarding these problems. I think that learning about these technologies is extremely important for college students to learn about for their future career paths, but more direction needs to be given. Overall this was a interesting class and I learned a lot about technology and its use in culture today. I just believe that there needs to be more direction than was given for the class.
